Do You Have Enough?
Do You Have Enough?
Most people have no idea if they have enough income and investments to last a long retirement. In the Discover step, you’ll learn and discover whether you have enough of the “right stuff” and how to make it last throughout retirement, based on your personal desires and goals.
If you’re pursuing the process on your own or with your own advisor, you can download a list of discovery questions to see what you’re missing. You can also request our Retirement Readiness Kit which includes two Retirement Savings calculators and several resources for DIY planning. If you’d like to work with one of our affiliate advisors, he/she will schedule a Discovery workshop with you at a place (phone/web conference or face to face) and a time that’s convenient for you.
We call this a “workshop” because it’s the first in a series of “interactive” educational discussions to review the current state of your retirement plan (or lack thereof) and to help you make informed decisions on the next steps you need to take. Our affiliates will not be selling you any products in this workshop. In fact, they don’t even mention products.
What will happen is you’ll learn more about:
We’ll also utilize our Retirement Income Projection Analysis (RIPA) tool to factor together your income, investments, Social Security and a number of other critical variables such as your risk tolerance and volatility to provide a valuable benchmark…which helps you understand where you are, where you want to be and what changes need to happen in order to get you there. Read more about the RIPA here.
If at the end of this session our advisor determines you don’t have enough of the “right stuff”, and you both feel feel it’s mutually beneficial to move forward, the Design workshop will be scheduled.
In addition, in the first discussion we’ll talk about ‘your why.’ German philosopher Frederick Nietzsche once said, “He who has a why can endure any how.” Knowing ‘your why’ is an important first step in figuring out how to achieve your goals and enjoy living in retirement (versus merely surviving!). We’ll certainly discuss money and assets, but we’ll also talk about your family, occupation and recreational priorities in retirement. Only when you know your ‘why’ will you move toward a more rewarding retirement trajectory. And remember, just because you have a retirement plan doesn’t mean you have to “retire.” It just means you can enjoy a work-optional lifestyle…and choose how you want to spend your time. We can help you get to this date faster. If pursuing the process on your own, download our Retirement Readiness kit which includes tips on discovering your ‘why’.
